Hi guys

Im new to all this & just completed my 2nd fast day yesterday

I did it successfully on monday but ended up bingeing last night so im really disappointed in myself :(

I fasted for 24hrs from 9pm wed to 9pm thurs but once id eaten my healthy chilli for dinner I gave in to eating for emotional reasons & had crisps & chocolate!

Im planning to fast again today seeing as I ate too many calories last night for yesterday to count, does this sound ok?

Thanks in advance for any replies

How did you next fast go??? Best way to avoid the binge is not having the temptations in the house!

Hi wittyusername ...and welcome!
love the user name...and on that topic some people on site have fab user names...makes me feel soooo unimaginative and boring using my real name...byt hey ho!
back to topic
firstly congrats on completing Monday!!!!
As for yesterday...its gone...in the past...no guilt...just learn from it!!!
I do the 36 hour fast twice per week cos thats what works for me..
finish eating on Sunday after tea 6/7 ish....then Monday is my fast day...I find it easier not to spread my calories so I just have black tea or water until dinner time and then I have 500kcal dinner...chicken and veg or salmon and veg...or large salad with ham and egg...always finish my dinner with a Hartleys 10kcal cranberry&raspberry jelly cos it makes me feel as if I have had 2 courses!!
then nothing until breakfast Tuesday morning...I just wouldnt trust myself to finish my fast at 9 o clock at night!!!! I honestly wouldnt be able to control myself!!!
At work on fast days I keep busy (usually am anyway!) and the day passes
After dinner on my fast day I try to pamper myself in some way (non food!) watch a movie or have a long hot bath and curl up with some new mags or a book....give myself a manicure or pedicure... i really do try to make my fast days about pampering me and taking time out from work/house/family ...that way I dont look at it as a negative day ...more a healing on the inside while I pamper me on the outside...Ive put a treatment on my hair....a face mask....tidied my make up and played around with new colours...anything that makes me feel good about me!!..then pj's and bed!! others on site say they busy themselves cleaning...wotever keeps you occupied
Ive only been doing this for 4 weeks so still learning but my weight loss has been good and I promise you each fast gets easier!!!!
My advice...if you have lasted until 9 pm...you can go through to the next morning...if you feel like eating say 'yes of course I can...I will have that TOMORROW!'
Stay positive

Sorry I wasnt very clear but when I said I fasted from 9pm-9pm I meant thats the period of time I went without any food - so I ate my 500 cal meal at 9pm in an attempt to stop mysef from being hungry later

But Id been to my official weigh in before dinner & had only lost half a pound this week despite being very active & expecting to lose more so I was feeling upset & ended up eating chocolate & crisps at 11pm... should've just gone to bed now I look back at it

Thanks for the responses :) I appreciate them x

Caro I agree in an ideal world I wouldn't have any chocolate in the house but the rest of my family aren't dieting so it wouldn't really be fair to make them do without just because I lack self control lol x

ahhhhhhhhhh....soz misunderstood!!!!
anyway....put it behind you.....I have 3 large boxes of Thorntons chocs....1x Milktray...1xtin of quality street left over since Christmas.....I have put them all in the dining room(which we rarely use as we have a large country kitchen/diner) ....family under strict instructions if I open the door to it they are to break both my legs!!!!! Ive just had 6 months lying on the flat of my back after a very bad messy knee operation (still on crutches) lol
I know its difficult sometimes not to give into temptation !! perhaps a few low cal treats in the house for yourself just incase?
hope you next fast day goes better...good luck

Hi witty, sounds like you need a just a little bit more motivation/willpower so I thought I'd tell you what I do.

How I fast
I fast on a Monday and Thursday. So for Monday for example. On Sunday evening I stop eating at about 8pm from then on I drink water and herbal teas. I have my 500 cals at about 6pm on Monday and sparkling water in the evening. On Tuesday I have a normal breakfast at 8am.

How I think/what I do

I have abused my body for 45 year and it has served me well so now it is time for me to give my body/digestive system a rest. So I rest it between 8pm-6pm = 22 hours and 6pm-8am = 14 hours. I focus on 'resting' my body.
The evenings are the hardest to get through for me, chocolate always comes into my thoughts (and it is usually in the cupboard as I too have a family) but I deal with it by remembering I am 'resting' my body. Remember at 9pm at night it is only an hour or two 'til bedtime and then you've done it. On fast days I go on to the forum - this usually takes up a lot of time and gives me motivation.

I eat chocolate every non-fast day because I can but I do it with more control now. At the beginning I did overeat on non-fast days but after a month this settles down.

Thanks Wildmissus

ive done fine today :) think it was just the circumstances yesterday that were making me crave comfort foods

I follow another well known slimming plan & have lost 4 stones but have been in a plateau since november hence changing to 5:2 so I tend not to eat chocolate or anything unhealthy for the majority of the time & just have the occasional slip up, was just annoyed with myself for doing it when id lasted almost the whole day as it felt like id wasted a day iykwim?

anyway... I moved my fast day to today for this week & it has passed fairly easily im pleased to report :) im gonna go back to mondays & thursdays after this tho x
