Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hi, I'm Ali and I'm just starting out on the 5:2 diet

I'd heard of it but it was only this week that it's become of more interest to me. I hadn't realised the health benefits and the more I read, the more I like what I'm learning.

Ideally I should be 10 kg lighter than I am. I've never lost the baby weight from my 3rd pregnancy and that baby is nearly 15!! I eat fairly healthily and I exercise but the weight doesn't seem to shift. In the last few years I've lost a few kilos then put them back on as I can't maintain a 'diet' I love good food!!

None of my grandparents made it to 70. My parents are in their 60s and both have health issues especially my dad. My mum is overweight, my dad is obese. I want to be fit, active and healthy for the rest of my life.

I hope to learn loads here and hope I can contribute something too as I love food and cooking

Thanks for the welcome. I've made today my official start date so have weighed in, done my BMI and set my targets. I'm undecided when to do my fast days so need to do a bit more research first.

Hi TartanAli,

Welcome, this the first day of the rest of your life, so enjoy it. I have just achieved my target weight so I can tell you that this works, it is easy but experiment a little and find the eating pattern which suits you and then stick to it, you will not regret it, I promise. Good luck,
