Day after fast - PIGGED OUT!!
13 Mar 2013, 09:30
Feel terrible today - yesterday was a normal day after my 2nd ever fast, and i really pigged out. so much so, i've put ON 2lbs in 24hours!! I weighed myself in the morning yesterday (after a fast on Monday)and was thrilled to be down 3lbs since last week. Weighed myself this morning and am back up 2lbs!
So annoyed with myself. after my first fast last week i was so good because i didn't want to "undo" any of my heard work. I understand that the normal days are just that, normal, but i really went beyond!!
My next fast is tomorrow (would have done today but going to Drs this afternoon) so today i'm just going to concentrate on having a good normal day today and not pig out.
Does anyone else have the urge to pig out after a fast day?? or am i just greedy!!!
It's a phase. Stop feeling terrible as you'll want to comfort eat. Become Zen with your weighing scales.

You haven't put on 2 lbs, not unless you ate 7000 cals more than your usual daily intake. It's salt, sugar and water plus a wee bit of fat.

If you measure your weight all through the day, it will fluctuate more than that.

As you say, just be normal, go with the odd craving, be firm with others and it'll all get very boring eventually! Plus it will work!

Go read the thread in the FAQ about weight and scales... :-)
hi
i think this is normal to over indulge in the first few weeks as you get used to things your body then tends to settle down and your non fast days become mostly more stable

good luck and just think you are still 1 lb down overall - weight can fluctuate by a couple of pounds per day anyway in genreal water retention

Stay focused on your fast days. Limit your calorie intake to 500 or less (I do less). Eat one meal or two on fast days. Do not snack between meals, and try to get in protein early. I usually eat a big plate of scrambled egg whites. If you stick to the fast days, the feed days will take care of themselves.
Thanks all - just need to focus myself and forget about yesterday. Today has been better, and i'm geared up for tomorrow's fast numero 3!
You should expect to way more two days after a fast than you did the day after. It's simple maths due to how much food is in your system being processed. This doesn't mean that you've actually put on weight in terms of getting fat. Your weight will naturally fluctuate by two or three pounds. If you keep up with 5:2 you'll find that those fluctuations are around lower and lower average weights, though. :-)
