Feed day eating
14 Mar 2013, 12:24
I started on this plan on Monday with a fast day, followed by a feed day (where I think I ate too much!), and then another fast yesterday.

I woke up this morning on a feed day and was just about to get myself some breakfast when I realised I wasn't hungry, so I just had a coffee.

It was 11am before I felt hungry and then I only wanted something small - so I had a slice of fruit bread, and a handful of cherry tomatoes.

I'm aware that they should be a substantial difference between eating on a fast day and on a feed day, but should I be making myself eat if I'm not particularly hungry? (That sounds like a daft question now I've written it down!) Should I eat up to my TDEE even if I'm not hungry?

I'm also aware that I still have a diet mentality in my head, so I imagine that for quite a while I will be limiting what I eat on feed days out of habit. Allowing myself to eat cake and chocolate will be mentally tough!

Did the dieting work for you in the past? If not, don't worry about keeping it up, don't mix dieting and this way of eating...

But also don't eat if you're not hungry, make sure you drink enough and at some point, things will balance out.

Dieting used to work for a while - I'd lose weight for a few weeks and then the loss would stop, even though I was eating the right amount of calories and exercising. Sometimes I would put a pound or two on even if I had been 'good' - which is the point where I got frustrated and started to eat more again.

Classic yo-yo dieter, that's me....!

I really want to get out of my dieting mindset and stop feeling guilty if I want a slice (or four!) of pizza, or a cake, but I know it's going to be tough. I still feel somewhat ashamed for eating 'bad' food, often eating it when no one else is around. But I guess I've been like that for many years, and it will take a while before I stop thinking of that.

Thanks for your response.
