Newbie..Hi! And a question!
14 Mar 2013, 14:45
Hi all,
Im going to start this new way of life on Monday, Im really looking forward to it and Im trying not to look at it like a diet, Im hoping it just becomes second nature.
I am a bit confused though by the fasting times, I plan to fast on Monday & Thursday, this is my plan, am I right?

Last meal at approx 6.00pm on a Sunday / Wednesday evening.
500 cals from Monday / Thursday morning right through until a normal breakfast on Tuesday / Friday morning. :?:

Perfect!!

Although honestly, I don't worry about last eating time on Sunday/wednesday. I don't go to bed hungry on those nights, so if I want something, I make sure it's small, healthy and balanced. I'm not going to have a big slice of chocolate cake, but I might have a plain yogurt with berries, or a slice of toast with peanut butter on it and a small glass of orange juice, or maybe an ounce of cheese with some crackers and an apple. I try to just make sure it's real food, with no weird chemical names in some sort of a balance and a snack size. I don't recommend sugar, because it makes you wake up ravenous.

I know it sounds hard, but fasting is way easier than it sounds. For me, it's even easier if I don't eat until dinner. If I eat breakfast or lunch, it really awakens my appetite and then I'm much hungrier during the day. But some people do better with a small lunch or breakfast. You have to find what works for you!

Welcome to the forums and good luck!!!

Hi Shelly & welcome!
Your plan is bang on :) You don't necessarily have to stop eating after your dinner on the day before, but it will maximise your time without food so is worth doing if you can. I usually try to stop after dinner on the day before a fast, but on occasion haven't (say if we've had guests and there are nibbles on the table!) and still lost weight.

Hope you enjoy 5:2 and that it does everything you hope :)

Thats it! Sounds like you're all set.
Monday and Thursday as fasting days sounds good, thats what I normally do, but you can always change days on any week if you have a social event or nice meal planned on one of your fasting days
Good luck with the first fast, make sure you come back and let us know how you're getting on
