Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

First full week finished.
15 Mar 2013, 19:06
Hi everyone,
Weighed in today and have lost 4.5 lbs which I'm very happy about. this week I've found that the fasting days have focused my mind and I've been watching what I've been eating but have also had my cake and eaten it when I really fancied it! My husband took the approach that he was going to eat what he wanted and see how he got on and he has lost 2.5 lbs so he's quite happy with his progress.
I like the thought of being able to eat without feeling guilty and still lose weight without feeling the diet is taking over your life. The fast days definitely seem to concentrate your mind on what you are actually eating. Just purchased the Hairy Dieters recipe book, looks like it will be good for the whole family.

How are other newbies getting on?

Sally

Hi Sally, Congrats on your weight loss. I just joined this Forum today and am new here. Would like to start this coming Monday. So what was your typical day (foods eaten) on your fast day? I am in France presently and finding it difficult with the foods hence I need some advice. Many thanks in advance. TSK

That sounds like great progress, I have been doing it for 5 weeks and lost 9lbs so well chuffed, previously spent many months at w watchers after losing an intial 2 stone then seemed to stick and lost and gained the next 7 lbs over the last year, this seems to be a manageable approach and gives a real insight to my relationship with food. I found the early fasts a little easier than the more recent ones, but I will still stick at it, like you I enjoy the feeling that I can have some treats without feeling guilty,
hope all goes well for you and your husband for future fasts.
