Hello everyone, I am on my first day of 5:2. I actually just heard about it today. I started my diet and exercise lifestyle change last Saturday. Basically cutting my calories down and doing an hour long of Zumba for 5 days a week. So far I have only been able to maintain my weight and haven't lost much. I was browsing forms when I heard about 5:2 so I decided to look into it. I did a lot of research and decided to give it a go. It was a little spur of the moment. I was planning on trying it out in a couple of weeks to be honest. Then I just decided to start it today. I actually went over my calories for today being my first fast day. I had already eaten my breakfast and lunch and that totaled out to be 600 calories. So now I am just not eating dinner. I am pretty hungry, but I know I will be fine. My next fast day will be on Wednesday, and I think that it will go a lot better since I will be prepared and can space out my meals and what not, and keep under my calories.

I am really hoping that this will work for me. I have always had trouble losing weight, mainly due to losing my determination and motivation, not exercising, and then splurging every time I turn around. Now all of that is changing. I have 83 pounds I need to lose and I am going to do it!

Welcome to the boards!

I have to say, I think it's a *LOT* harder to skip dinner than to skip breakfast and lunch. And going to bed hungry makes me a pretty sad person. Please don't beat yourself up if you can't do it today. I think it's a really rough ride you have set yourself up for.

I'm in the same boat you're in and I have been doing this diet for two months now. I've lost 9 pounds (despite dealing with an underactive thyroid impeding my weight loss) and it's the easiest diet I have ever done, provided that I plan ahead! Just winging fast days is quite difficult for me.

Good luck and welcome to the forums!
