Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hello

I posted this on the "Dieting today" forum before I saw this, so sorry if you have already seen it.

I did my first Fast yesterday, having got the book on Thursday and watched "Eat, Fast, Live" on Friday.

I was 96kg a year ago, and got quite ill, my throat so sore I could not eat. I was in effect put on an involuntary fast for a few weeks, and I lost 10kg. Pleased with the result, I continued to eat much less, and by mid-summer was down to 78kg. Since then, my weight steadily crept up to 80kg.

It was such a revelation to see the program and realise the fasting the illness pulled me into was in fact a good thing. I will now take up the 5:2 diet with enthusiasm. My target is to get to about 72kg.

I found yesterday quite easy (2 boiled eggs and a plum for breakfast, Salmon fillet and cherry tomatoes for tea), I think my experience over the last year helped.

Hi biminibob and welcome! :)

I bet you didn't realise that it was such a good experience at the time. ;)

Thanks for the welcome. No, at the time I just couldn't eat as my throat felt like sand-paper was rubbing it raw when I swallowed anything. To the extent it was hard to swallow even water. However, once I recovered and saw how much weight I had lost, I admit I was glad I had been ill.

And then seeing the East,Fast,Live program, I thought "wow, that's essentially what I did when I was ill". It's great to have it rubber stamped as a great way not only to improve health, but also weight.
