Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hello! It's my FFD today
19 Mar 2013, 22:10
Hello, I thought if I'm going to do this properly I'd best get all the support and advice I can.
Today was First Fast Day (FFD) and it's gone pretty well. Pretty well because I didn't have any food cravings but I have had a headache most of the day. I've tried to keep my fluid intake up, but maybe not enough.

A friend told me about the TV programme and then gave me the extract from the "Radio Times" in a positive, supportive way - not an "OMG you need to drop a few stone" way! I've now bought the book and did a speed read on Monday evening so I could start today.

I'm looking forward to Thursday - Day2 and thinking of how to spend my 500cals.

Well done :) you must be so pleased with yourself.

Regarding water - I buy a 11/2 litre bottle of water & start it mid morning, with an aim to finish it before 19h. One day I had a part bottle (from a non-fast day) so I thought I should finish that first - drank nowhere near even 1 litre like that as I couldn't easily see the progress

I drink lots of green tea, i do use Stevia or Xylitol to sweeten it a little, also i have a Miso sachet of soup around "lunch time" i find a warm, salty, drink is comforting and feels like i'm having something a bit "foodie". Good luck with your day.

Thanks Annie and Marie for the tips. I've woken up and suprisingly, as Dr M says, I don't feel hungry.
