Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hello!

I already introduced myself in the "fasting today" thread, but just wanted to say hello. I'm Bea from London. This is my second fast day - first day was Tuesday and I found it surprisingly easy; skipped breakfast and had sushi for lunch and soup for dinner, and felt brilliant and in control the next day.

Today is a bit harder; I've a headache and feel a bit sick. I wonder if I should have left two days between fasts? In total I've got about 20lbs I want to shift before September. I've lost and regained that amount on two low-carb diets before and now I've just about had enough.

I suffer with stress and have had lots of life changes recently, so this plan seems to be as much about making sustainable progress and having a sense of control as it is about weight loss.

As I'm only 5' I'm on 475 calories a day. Does it make a massive difference if you go over by 50 or so calories, does anyone know?

Anyway, hello everyone. You all seem to be doing marvellously :)
Hi Bea, I wouldn't stress over 50 calories. Take a 30 min stroll around the block or dance around in your lounge for 20 minutes. Use MyFitnessPal ap or website - it helps you work out what calories you are burning.
Good luck.
Thanks Caro :)

I've been using MFP, but accidentally logged the calories per 100g of my lunchtime sushi instead of the whole lot, so I've gone a bit over. Will walk home rather than getting the tube to burn the extra :)
Hello Beeswax and welcome. I've been fasting for a wee while now and still find doing two fasts over three days quite tough. Think I would struggle with ADF though many others do it no problem. It's early days for you, so play about with how you do your fasts and you'll find what suits you best. Lots of suggestions on the forum boards. Let us know how you get on and don't forget to put your info into the tracker.
Thanks Jane :)

That's really helpful - I will experiment next week. I'd probably struggle with ADF too. I did a food replacement diet not so long ago and found the social exclusion quite hard to deal with, so I'm enjoying the "mostly normal" aspect of this diet.

Also I run three times a week and do weights twice a week; this week I felt quite weak and feeble, so I think I'll try fasting two days apart to see if that helps.

This is such a brilliant board; I'm already inspired!
