For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hi everyone. Like borderlass I have just finished reading the book and plan to have my first fast day tomorrow - and I'm really quite excited about it. It seems that the majority of people find it a good system so I am very positive about it :D
I want to lose weight (25kg in total) as well as enjoy the health benefits. I have tried many diets over the years (I am 45) and whilst SW has been really successful for me, life gets in the way and I weigh more than when I started and I find it too restrictive (although it is probably one of the least restrictive of diets) :(
So positive thinking, I am looking forward to seeing how it feels exercising on both feast and famine days though I have stinking cold at the moment so will see how that goes this week!
I look forward to keeping in touch and using the support, as and when I can get to the Internet (probably outside work hours).

Welcome Amanda :D

I'm sure you'll have some great success in 5:2, it seems to work especially well for those of us with a bit more to lose!

If you're feeling poorly at the moment and you've not felt like you don't want to eat, I would suggest not starting your fast until you feel better. If you're ill and your body is asking for food, fasting may not be a good idea. If you're ill and you don't feel like eating, well that should just give you a helping hand :)

Thanks Moogie. My maths is wrong (blame my fuzzy head!) I want to lose 15kg, still plenty but realistic I feel at this moment in time.

I don't feel like eating much so am hoping that will get me started, though I take on board what you say and will see how I feel tomorrow.
