Hi I'm Bree. I'm a 55 year old female who has worked out and been pretty healthy most my adult life but started gaining weight about 10 years ago and it has been inching up and up and getting harder and harder to shed. I've tried WW and used apps like My Fitness Pal etc but get very frustrated with calorie counting so usually give up and then get down on myself.

I recently read an article on "the fast diet" and more research led me to this forum. The 5:2 method seems like something I could easily adapt to so I'm pretty excited about it plus my husband is on board too. We both have about 25 lbs to lose and if I like it as much as I think I will, I will adapt it for life.

We are doing our first fast tomorrow and I've planned 3 small meals instead of one larger one and see how it goes

I'm trying to avoid carbs on my fast days and stick to low calorie with some protein.

Breakfast - 1/2 cup egg whites with peppers and onions
Lunch - 1/2 can tuna and 1/2 can green beans
Dinner - Cabbage veggie soup

Hi there, well done for choosing this diet, i too have tried WW in the past,
it did work, but it was nooo waaaay as easy as this. And you'll save £s on the meeting fees of course.
I am taking 1 stone at a time, a few of them to lose, but have lost 11lbs in 5 weeks so far. Today, feast day, I had pasta for lunch, too much actually, prepare for your stomach to shrink, couldn't take the 'old size' portion like i used to.
lesson learned for me there! But I'm sure you'll find it's great! Added bonus your husbands joining in,my husband can eat the couch and still lose a pound! heheee. But he is supportive nevertheless. My clothes are getting very loose now too, and I really love the extra energy you feel on fasting days.
Sometimes on a fasting day I might dream of a bacon butty the next morning, mmm! But when that morning comes I just don't fancy it! That happens regularly, very wierd, but it's a great magic to have. ENJOY!

Thanks for the welcome Bevster. WW worked well for me too a number of years ago but tried the newer flex system a few years back and wasn't as successful. This seems simpler and something I could stick with because it won't feel as much like a diet .... I feel like I can handle any eating regime for only one day at a time. I'm a bit of a carboholoc.so I'm planning on cutting out most carbs on my fast days hoping I will get better control over them the rest of the week and if my stomach shrinks and I have less of an appetite I will be very pleased

Thanks again
Bree
