Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hey everyone..

I've decided that after much reading and stuff that I will give this a try and see how I fare.
I'm going to be fasting Thursdays and Tuesdays I think although I may change that at some point.
I'm armed with lots of water and green tea for tomorrow, I'm thinking maybe weetabix and milk for breakfast, carrots for a lunchtime snack and then maybe an omelette in the evening - that should meet a 500cal target, any suggestions or alternatives will be greatly appreciated :D

Welcome Hannah to the forum and to 5:2! Well done for taking the plunge.

You sound pretty well set up, it's good to have an eating plan ready. The water and green tea will help. See how you go, the first day is the hardest. My only thought is that the weetabix is carbs and so might make you hungry later in the morning, but there are as many ways of doing this as there are fasters, so whatever works for you is good. You can ring the changes on subsequent days and see what you find easiest.

Let us know how you get on...

Hi Hannah
Glad you've decided to join us, lots of useful information here.
Most of us find it easier to leave eating till as late as possible in the day, mainly because once you have something to eat it switches on the hunger switch but its a case of experimenting to find what suits you best. I personally have a bovril drink about 2pm, use some of my cals for milk in my tea & the bulk for a dinner of loads of veg &small portion of fish or chicken.
Good luck with your 1st fast, post on the fasting today thread for support.
