Diet expert!!
28 Mar 2013, 00:30
Hi everyone,

I am new to 5:2 and I love it. I consider myself a diet expert as I have tried evey diet you can think of over the past 20 or so years and I have failed them all. The 5:2 does not feel like a diet and when I am fasting (done 4 so far) I can stick to it by telling myself I can eat whatever I want the next day and I imagine having some chocolate (I am a chocoholic) and cake and whatever is bad, but when I wake up the next day I don't feel like any of it, but just the thought that I could have, got me through the fast day. I am losing on average 0.5kg/week and for me that is great as I haven't been able to go down on any previuos diet attempts. I actually feel like this is something I could do for the rest of my life. Good luck to all who are fasting today
Cheers

Welcome to the forums! there are many of us experts on here. Many of us have lost weight on most of the diets, but we just couldn't sustain it ;-)

Hello Blanche,

I do the same if I see something I would like to have :-)
"Just wait one day, you can have it tomorrow!"
It helps a lot and indeed I don't always eat those things the next day and surely not binge on them. Which is great.

Good luck!

I agree, one of the best things I have found since starting the 5:2 is the change in how I feel about food on my "feast" days. I go to bed at the end of a fast day thinking yippee bacon and egg for breakfast, cake and crisps if I want later. However when I wake up the next morning I find I don't fancy the bacon and eggs so have fruit and yoghurt instead and it doesn't feel like a hardship. I have also found I can enjoy baking again and not eat everything I bake in the first hour, in fact the cake I bakedon Saturday is still not finished, i have enjoyed eating the pieces I ate but haven't needed to binge on it. I don't understand why this is but I am happy about it. Maybe just feeling more relaxed about food is the thing that is helping and not worrying about all that counting of calories!

Hi Blanche, I like you feel real excitement and optimism about this new lifestyle/eating idea. I start only my 2nd fast day tomorrow and hearing how people are doing further along really helps.

Oh totally agree Blanche5... It almost feels like you have benefited from those foods without actually eating them or the calories they bring!

I'm finding when i do treat myself with say chocolate, i really saviour it and don't eat as much as usual - i.e. There's actually some left!

This really is becoming a WOL!

It is so wonderful to have people who think the same. I just finished my 5th fast yesterday and it was the easiest so far and I have a lot more energy today and I am very close to dropping a dress size and it has not been too much effort. I have not told anyone as yet that I am on the 5:2 and it ia amazing how no one has noticed.

Good luck to all for the Easter Weekend, especially the chocoholics

Nearly dropped a dress size? That's AWESOME!

You do feel like you have more energy, I agree. Perhaps our bodies are just working more efficiently not having to break down all the processed food, plus you don't really feel like even eating the processed food anymore.

It changes your mindset, that's for sure!
