First day today
28 Mar 2013, 20:08
Hello,

I fasted today for the first time in my life and it went well. I am in pretty good shape and have no worries about my weight. I have never dieted before, but this eating regime seems to make very good sense and I want to live a long healthy life. I have a young daughter and I want to be in good shape for as long as possible so that I can always keep up with her.
I haven't seen the BBC film, but have read a bit about the fasting diet and a friend of mine started yesterday.
I have had my first fast day today and ate nothing for breakfast, nothing for lunch and then boiled egg and tomato on bread, a few cashews, and some boiled savoy cabbage with a tiny splash of soy sauce for dinner.
Drinking green tea during the hungry times today helped me a lot. I feel hungriest of all when I come home at the end of the day, so that is when I get the allowed calories in. I think I will try to fast tomorrow too, two days in a row seems possible and keeping the fasting days together seems rational at the moment. I wonder how I will feel tomorrow evening.

I hope it is going well for you all.

Chris, Sweden.

Welcome Chris to the forum and to 5:2. You seem to be off to a good start, and it will get easier as your body adapts. In fact the bigger issue for you once you get 'into' 5:2 might be not losing too much. Seriously!

Lots of good info here including a link to the original programme if you want to watch it (find the short answers FAQ and look near the bottom). Lots of friendly help too. See you around!

Hello,

Thanks Izzy and Dominic.

Today went well too. No breakfast, one scrambled egg on toast for lunch and rice cakes with beetroot for dinner (I will have to look into recipes and plan better meals). I drank green tea when the waves of hunger hit and they passed. I felt fine when I went out walking with my daughter and did some push ups at home. I felt generally good throughout the day. It helps that the weather was really good today, lots of sunshine and the snow is finally melting.
I thought the second day would be harder than the first but the challenge of it and the thought that I can enjoy proper meals tomorrow sees me through.
I hope it goes this well next week.

I will keep an eye on my weight to see that I don't become too thin. I am already within ideal BMI range. If I start losing too much weight I will eat more on the 5 days of normal meals.
