Average weight loss?
31 Mar 2013, 09:02
Hi I am very new to this. 15 days in and have lost 2.5 kg (5.5lbs). I guess this weight loss is going to slow down but because I am very motivated at the moment I am trying to stick to around 1200 on my non fast days. (Except on a night out with a curry!)
Does anybody else follow this type of eating plan and if so how is your weight loss going.

Hello Tracy in Spain and welcome to the forum.
Well done on your initial weight loss and yes, it probably will slow down. Average loss is about a pound a week- slow and steady. Also, your previous dieting profile( yo-yo/no reduction diet/WW/SW etc) and how much weight you have to lose are considerations.
Have a browse in the forums and FAQs and check out what other people are doing, and also look at the progress tracker to see what the average is for people with similar statistics to yourself.
Some people are counting calories on the ordinary days and sticking to about their TDEE (total daily energy expenditure and a quarter of it on fast days.
Others mix up a bit and go over TDEE one or two days, under slightly on another day or two along with the fast days.
It's worth having a check of your TDEE to give you an idea of 'normal eating' for your profile.
Once you have the hang of 5:2 you can play about and see what happens.
Do keep us posted and ask away if you need info.

Do have a look at previous posts about mixing diets.

You're averaging less than a thousand calories a day atm which probably isn't advisable over any length of time. This is a long-term way of eating so unless you only have a few pounds to lose, you might want to check out the FAQs.

Good luck.
