Hello everyone! I'm new to this whole thing, just finished watching a documentary about different kinds of diets and I got curious about this fasting-two-times-a-week thing, so I decided to check it out. After redaing a couple of pages online about it I decided that I might as well try it!

I don't know about you, but I'm one of those who want to do something but always procastrinate it and eventually ends up not doing it at all, especially when it comes to my health, eg I still haven't quit smoking, or started training and so, but I will. Someday. :smile:

But I have some newbie questions about this diet:
1. What can I eat? (And yes, I know the amount of calories, but is there any other limitations, such as "you can't eat meat when you're fasting")
2. How much weightloss can be expected in the first 5 weeks, when the diet is combined with exercise?
3. It really doesn't matter which days I fast?
Hello iwoneee and welcome to the forum. Hopefully your procrastination will turn to action because 5:2 is so easy!
YOu'll find loads of info on the board- check out the FAQ section and you can search as well.
To answer your questions
1 You can eat whatever you like- no restrictions. Many people fill up on vegetables and a bit of protein on fast days , as veg gives you plenty of bang for your bucks- really filling with low calories. Suppose most people find themselves leaning toward making the 500 cals go as far as they can.
2. The average weight loss is coming out to be about 1 pound a week. If you look at the progress tracker you can get an idea of what people with similar characteristics to you are losing.
3. Doesn't matter! Fast on days that suit you. Just not really advisable to do 2 consecutive days. There is a poll that shows days people fast.
Good luck and hope you jump in!
Welcome to the forum. Start 5:2 today - no procrastination! No special equipment or food is required, although scales and a tape measure are useful! The answers to all your questions will be found in the FAQ section so use the search facility to find specific answers. Very briefly though;
1. You can eat anything you like although there are some foods which make more sense from a health point of view.
2 Don't have too high an expectation of rapid weight loss. This is not a quick fix diet - it is a whole new way of eating (WOE). There will be weeks, maybe several, when you don't lose.
3. Choose whatever days you like but not back to back. Days can be changed from week to week according to your own circumstances.

Hope this helps - just jump in!
