fasting while on school hols
01 Apr 2013, 17:25
I have been following 5:2 for about 6 weeks now and all was going well until last thurs (fast day) only it ended up being a feast day. I work at school over lunchtimes and thurs was bad because the roast potatoes were calling my name all lunch, I caved in and had one then another, then another..... basically my day was blown and it continued over the next few days because i felt bad for caving in. I have been dreading today ( also a fast day) and now we are on holidays I don't have work to keep me occupied. I have struggled today but all i have had is water and have just had my evening meal which was great and I am washing it down with a nice coffee. I am still under my cals limit for the day but i feel better now , not just because i have eaten but also knowing I can cope during the holidays. Sorry for rambling but just needed to vent a bit
I find the school holidays challenging as well, with Daughter home and routine out of the window it's difficult... but I've got through today (probably helped by my impromptu guilt-driven fast yesterday!) only one more fast this week to get through and then it'll be easier next week when the routine's all back to normal :crossed:
Don't beat yourself up too much. This problem of the binge when the brakes come off is quite common (that means I've experienced it  ).

My suggestion if you are in the same situation again is to dose up on liquids - water being the healthiest and cheapest. Drink enough water that you can't face that second (or third, or fourth) roast potato!
