Hi all,

I'm new to the fast diet. I watched the horizon programme and was really intrigued by it, but for some reason I held back from trying it. Wish I'd started it back in the summer! At the time though, I was pretty much at my goal weight - I have a pattern of losing a stone in the summer and then putting it back on over the winter and I'm hoping that with the fast diet I will be able to balance out throughout the year, without starving myself in the summer months!

So far, I've been on the diet a week, just completing my 2nd fast day yesterday, and it feels good. I was a bit worried about pigging out on feast days because I'm very much an all or nothing person, however, after the first feast day of eating as though I might never have the chance to again... things have settled down, I am feeling alot more balanced.

I am nervous about the slow weight loss on this diet, as I want to be thin today (!) but I do believe that this might be the key to lasting balance and a lifelong programme.

Thank you for all your inspirational posts.
Gx

I think with only a stone to lose (about the same as me) it does go fairly slowly but I am sure it stays off. It took me nearly all last year to lose 3kgs because it kept bouncing up and down. I have lost the next 2 on 5:2 and even though I can now eat biscuits and cake if I feel like it, the weight seems much more stable. Just got through Easter and PMT and only showing a kg up. I have done lots of exercise this long weekend though so hopefully.....
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply Caro - yep, seems excrutiatingly slow when less to lose... but as you said, if I can eat what I want (within reason) 5 days a week, it should be less frustrating than on other diets. Plus, hopefully, no more yoyoing.
Hope it goes well for you - will keep an eye out for your posts.
