Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!
If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!
There are a lot of words to describe your non-fasting days and many writers, who have jumped on the 5:2 bandwagon, have made promises about how much you can eat and they are just not true! It is true that you can eat 'whatever' you want but it is not true that you can eat 'everything' you may want!
Eating 'normally' may also be a misnomer because if, like many of us on here, you have been gaining weight before starting this WOE, then your 'normal' is obviously too much and will need moderating slightly!
I would suggest that you establish your maintenance TDEE, if you don't already know it, and then eat to that on your non-fasting days. This may mean calorie counting for two or three weeks until you have a good idea of what your TDEE looks like in real food but is a small price to pay for a WOE which can get you slim and keep you slim for life!
Since starting ten weeks ago, I have eaten cake, biscuits, sweets, chocolate, crisps, hot cross buns and lots of other goodies as well, but I don't eat them every day. When I do eat them, I make sure that I enjoy them, with no guilt - just lots of pleasure! I have lost 15lb with another 8.5 lb to go to get to my target of 10 stone 7lb.
The forum is here for you and we love to hear your success stories but we are also good for advice and support too. Good luck with your new WOE.
