Thinking of starting.....
04 Apr 2013, 02:38
Hello Everyone :)
I have been reading about this "diet" and am thinking about starting on this journey. I have been on several weight loss journeys before with varied amounts of success...what I really want to gain from this is to lose some weight which will encourage me to exercise more & therefore get fitter :) I turn 50 in December and would love to be lighter & brighter come my birthday ...wish me luck!
Sparkly :)

52 here and loving my fifties so far. Particularly enjoying having lost some weight following this regime for a couple of months. Good luck Sparkly, as Jane says there is lots of great support on here. I really encourage you to measure your waist. Watching that middle aged spread melt away is super encouraging, especially on the weeks that the scales don't go down fast enough for my liking!

I'm now in a size 12 and they are loose on me, roll on the summer so I can flaunt it a bit

Welcome from me too, Sparkly.
Go for it!! I was overweight/obese since my early forties and (53 now) am really loving seeing the weight come off and the middle-aged spread get smaller.
I've done WW, lost and regained weightand found that 5:2 WOE is brilliant, not worrying about food all the time or feeling deprived yet still losing weight.

Welcome Sparkly - I'm mid-50s and weighing my lightest for ages. I've had 3 kids over the years - not that I can blame my weight on that - it's my love of food and lack of will power that's been the problem  - have done SW & WW and, although they've been good, nothing is as easy as this - it's adaptable, easy to follow and just seems to fit in !! I'm loving life and all that it's got to throw at me - so jump on board and join the 5:2ers!! The only thing you've got to lose is weight

Ah, thanks for the welcome everyone :)
I have decided today (Fri) is my start day & for the time being my fast days will be Tues & Thurs. I weighed in this morning (which was a bit depressing!) but I'm looking forward to next Friday's weigh-in with anticipation. :like:

Do it, it's easier than trying to keep to a diet everyday of the week. I too have don WW SW RC Atkins and can only keep it up for a couple of weeks :curse: I am on my fast day and feeling ok because I know in a few hours I can have a lovely breakfast and I find that I don't pig out on my feast days, don't crave chocolate/biscuits and have stopped picking through the day and not missing it :victory: I don't deprive myself though and when I do have a treat I do not feel guilty.

Hi and Welcome ! Both my husband and I are 57 yrs. and this is the best thing we have ever done because it is not a diet. We go out to eat, order what we want and the weight is coming off with no daily measuring, weighing, not to mention what we have spent on diets before. This is so simple I wish we could have done this years before. Only keeping track for 2 days is so easy. Good luck to you and you have a lot of support here:)

Well I'm 63 - nearly 64 - and am finding this the best WOE I've tried so far. Mentally, its easier than a 'proper diet' because whatever you want to eat, you can always have it 'tomorrow' and because you aren't calorie-counting all day every day, only restricting on the fast days, you don't need to feel guilty if someone at work buys in doughnuts, or brings a birthday cake/chocs.

Long live 5:2, I say!
