Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Reliable calorie counter

Can anyone recommend a 'definitive' calorie counter? Seems like every online version I access says something slightly different, and on my fast days I really need to know exactly how many calories I am eating! Thanks.

I agree with you that comparing different calorie counters is a wee bit frustrating, but a kcal is so tiny that it's hardly surprising there are small differences. unless you are eating under laboratory conditions your calorie count will never be wholly accurate anyway, so just aim for the amount you are going for and if in doubt eat slightly under what you estimate. :clover:

I use "my fat secret" which has a lot of UK foods listed plus if you have the packaging you can add the details in yourself. Agree with dhana don't get too bogged down with calorie counting, as long as you're in the 500 area you should be fine.

I also vouch for FatSecret. It is extremely easy to use and very informative.
