Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Newbie just saying hello

Good morning all,

I'm new here and just wanted to introduce myself.

My husband and I agreed to try 5:2 for two weeks, as we've read that people seem to have super success right from the start. We figured that two weeks, or 4 fasts, isn't a big deal, so let's see what happens, and hopefully we'll see results.

Last week, I bought a scale, to track our progress. I discovered I am about 5kgs heavier than I'd guessed.

We have just completed our first week, and I lost 1.6kg! I am so pleased, as weight loss for me has always been quite slow. I feel really inspired for week two. My husband forgot to weigh-in this morning, but I feel confident that he'll see a change on the scale too.

I'm so impressed after one week, that I think I'm definitely going to stick with this, beyond week 2.

Hi Sammi!
I'm a newbie too. Just started the 5:2 yesterday with my husband.
Our first fasting day is today.
So far we've had a huge bowl {40g} of porridge made with water...and berries on top. Quite nice.
Bit worried about hubby as he's one of these people who eats by the clock. He's going to be a bit shell shocked until we get used to this lol.
I hope this plan works as I have a lot of weight to lose and really want to feel fitter. I hope that it can be our plan for life.
Good luck to your and your husband...from me and mine :D

Welcome to you both and good luck. I found the first week loss was exciting, and then I stayed the same for 2 weeks until it has now started moving again. :)

Hi Sammi

I'm also a newbie - doing my first fast day today. I too used to eat by the clock. Breakfast at 8.15, lunch at 1.15, dinner at 6pm, so it is a huge change for me too, but what has been nice is not thinking about food, so hopefully it'll be the same for your hubby :-)

Anyway, welcome :-)

Hi Doodle - Thanks, I will keep that in mind, and try not to get discouraged! :)

Rosie and Dolly - My husband found the fast days much harder than me. Unlike me, he's never dieted, and usually eats whatever he wants, so this is a huge change for him. After we used up our calories on the fast days, we sipped broth and herbal teas, and that helped, a bit. I've read on here that the fasting days get easier, so fingers crossed. Good luck to you guys too!
