Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hi everyone!

I'm a Brit living in the U.S., and have just recently heard about the 5:2 Diet having seen Dr. Mosley on TV here. So here I am ready to give it a go.

I've had some success with losing some weight (about 65lbs from my heaviest), but that was a while ago and I've come to a point where I needed something different as far as my dieting was concerned. I still have a long way to go to get down to my goal, but at the age of 52, I need to do something to finally get fitter and healthier. With approximately 100lbs left to lose, I need to whip this into shape before I get much older.

I plan to start on Thursday with a fast day of course. I plan to make my fast days on Mondays and Thursdays for now as those days best fit with my schedule.

Anyway, if anyone out there wants to talk, please let me know, I would love it. If anyone here has a lot of weight to lose, then I'd love to hear from you too. Maybe we can support each other on this journey.

Take care all.

Janice.
Hi Janice, nice to meet you. Lots of opportunities on here for a natter and lots of support.I'm sure you'll find this WOE a nice change after more formal diets.
Thank you! I know I'm going to like it here. Looking forward to beginning on Thursday. :crossed:
Hi Janice! I'm new here too. Welcome! My name is Ashley. I did my first fast yesterday and already lost 2.2 lbs! Good luck on your fast!
Can I add my welcome Janice and Ashley. Mondays and Thursdays are the most popular choice for days Janice (and mine too!) so if you follow the 'fasting today' topics here on those days you will get lots of moral support.

Ashley you get the prize for the most obscure username! More like a password really or a phone number!? Good start with the 2.2lbs, I'm sure you know already that it will slow down but at least you are well on your way...
Hi Janice and Ash - welcome to one of the friendliest forums around - lots of knowledge, information and friendly support. Wishing you both luck on this WOL - I too do Mon/Thurs as fast days - so see you tomorrow and I'm sure I'll paths will cross in other threads
Welcome Janice and Ashley. I hope this way of eating suits you as well as it seems to be suiting me - I love it! Don't forget to weigh and measure now at the start so you can have something to compare with later on :) The Progress Tracker on here is fab.
Thank you everyone for your lovely words of support. It's funny that Mondays and Thursdays seem to be so popular, but I agree with Dr. Mosley is that after a nice weekend the Monday doesn't seem too hard to make a fasting day, and Thursdays are close to the next weekend, so you have something to look forward to.
Well done Ash on your 2.2lbs loss already...that is great! I can't wait to start tomorrow (just not possible before then), so I'll be starting my Progress Tracker info too. Thanks for the tips Doodle!
