Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hello - another new 5:2 er
10 Apr 2013, 06:18
Hi!
I really enjoy reading this forum because it seems very friendly and supportive, so I thought I'd say hi and thank you for setting it up.
I have been on the diet for 2 weeks and have lost 2 pounds (which seems to be the average) so I'm pleased! It's so different from any other WOE I've been on (Weight Watchers worked, but I put it all back on) and I actually look forward to the fast days because I seem to have more energy and I feel thinner somehow.
Reading some of the success stories has really encouraged me.
Thanks again

Hi quiltgirl and welcome. This is a great forum isn't it - everyone's so friendly, helpful and supportive - great stuff. I've done WW and SW too and it's all gone back on over the years - this WOL just seems so easy and although my personal weight loss is slow it's all going in the right direction and one I think I could easily maintain for life. I don't expect to reach my target weight realistically until the end of the year - which seems a long way off at the moment - but hey ho I'll get their eventually and the fast days, like you, don't present a problem at all. Good luck along the way

Welcome to the forum, and well done on your start :)
I am really enjoying 5:2 and it seems to be working well for me. I have also tried WW etc, but never kept the weight off, and also never managed to lose it quite so easily.

Thanks Doodle and Suchard! I'm finding that on fast days I get loads more done around the house and garden - keeping out of the kitchen and keeping busy.
You're both doing well - can you let me know - do you both eat up to your normal calorie intake on non fast days, or do you not count and just eat sensibly?

I eat up to 500 cal on my fast days - all as an evening meal after water and green tea all day.
On my non-fast days, I eat what I want, and I don't count anything! I'm not always sensible, either! It's working for me, but if my weight loss stops for a significant time, I will think again.

Welcome quiltgirl from another newbie :-)

I too have tried WW, SW, Atkins... you name it I've tried it over the years, so I'm hoping this will be a new WOL for me too.

This site does seem to be the best place to get lots of information and support for the 5.2.

Look forward to seeing how your journey goes :-)
