Hi all. I'm Sharon, 45 year old mum of a 23 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. My weight has always yoyo'd but i am now at my heaviest and im unhappy. I heard Dr Michael Mosley on the radio last week and promptly ordered the book and started my 1st day yesterday as a fast day. I found it really easy and despite my skepticism i wasn't hungry, i weighed myself this morning and i'm 1lb down. This inspired me to go out for a lovely long walk with my daughter today( which i haven't done in a while)
As my BMI puts me in the obese category, (and i never considered myself obese) rather than a 5:2 plan would it be beneficial to start with a 5:3 plan and then onto a 5:2?
Also i love this site its really usual and inspirational. :D :D

hi shazyone- welcome!!! like you I only just started a few days ago and had a really successful first fast day- this seems to work really well and it is not as difficult as one might think- is it? Just like you- I took the dog for a nice long walk the last couple of days - evrybody is happy!! and I feels so much better for it- and that is only the start of our exciting journey!!! and if you do yout tracker you can watch your BMI come down with your weight! I am going to see my GP this week to get blood tests done now and when I have reached the weight loss I am aiming for so I can see the health benefits as well as the weight loss. ursula

Hi, I'm new here too. Going to have my first fast day starting tomorrow, luckily I haven't been food shopping for the week yet so there isn't much to tempt me. Kinda excited/nervous and hoping this will all work out.

Hi Ursula,
Its not difficult at all, certainly not rocket science. Question is why has this not been recognized before and if it has why have i not seen it??

Anyway, not sure if this sudden good feeling of a potential healthy future inspired me to walk today or the fact that all we've seen these last two weeks in the UK is snow snow and more snow and today the sun shone. Anyhoo doesnt matter i just felt the need to walk.

Good luck with the blood tests.
