After having heard about the 5/2 system on the Food Programme I decided to look into it. Became curiouser and curiouser and ordered the Book, which I have now read. I am 62 years old, a vegetarian, a semi-retired translator (English-Dutch and vv) and I want to loose some weight because of my dodgy knees and because I want to grow old healthily. Not only does this system seem feasible, even in the long run, but it seems to make a lot of sense from an evolutionary perspective. So I started on the 1st of April and I've lost 1.5 kg already! My normal fast days are Monday and Wednesday, but yesterday I had lunch with a colleague, so I am fasting today. I find this site incredibly informative and helpful, so I've decided to join. Good luck all the other fasters out there.

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!
If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!
