New Member - wish me luck!

Well,
I have taken the plunge and decided to have a go at this diet. Having been slimmer and fitter in my younger years i have now found it hard to stop the weight creeping on and my will power has all but dwindled. I therefore, have bitten the bullet and have begun the fast diet and am currently on day 1 which for me is a fast day -I have so far found it easy (ish) but am looking forward to my stirfry this evening - I have snacked on cherry tomatoes and had some soup - I wondered whether I need to fast all day or whether restricted calories over the day is also ok?
I will be weighing myself on a Friday morning - however my starting weight today - Thursday evening is 11st 11lb
My height is 5'6"
My first goal is to reach 10st 11lb (loss of 14lb's)
Then 10st (loss of 25lb's)
Then 9st 11lb (28lb's)
Then 9st 7lb (32lb's)
Hmmm - I have quite a way to go, but one day at a time - and today has been a good day

Welcome to the forum Ruth and to 5:2! Good to hear that it is going all right on the first day. The first couple of weeks are the hardest for many probably because of adaptation that the body has to make to fat-burning from glycogen-burning, then it gets easier.

You can eat whenever you want to and however makes it easiest for you. I have always found it best to save all or almost all my calories for the evening, and many do that, but others have small breakfast and lunch and dinner, so it's horses for courses (as long as the horse is labelled on the packet  ).

Do put your statistics into our wonderful Progress Tracker and also have a look at the forum stats for inspiration - over 5 tonnes has been lost in this forum in 3 months!

Good luck!

Best of luck to you. You'll do great. Once you get past the first week, it's a breeze.

My first day too Ruth, so I'm with you on this. I have a lot more than you to lose, but I'm feeling optimistic. I had a small breakfast of oatmeal and some mandarin segments, and feeling good so far. Little dizzy earlier, but drinking water has helped that. Looking forward to my meal tonight of broccoli, salmon, and a few mushrooms. I believe it will be easier after the first week. Just takes some getting into.

Good luck!
