Ready, Set, Go!

Hi all!

My name is Bec, I'm from Melbourne, Australia, and I have just started the 5:2 diet.
Today is my first fasting day and so far so good! I'm beginning by spreading my 500 cals out over the day, and will see how I go with that.

Looking forward to hopefully getting some good results!

Hello Bec and welcome to the forum. Hopefully you iwll get good results- if you put your data into the tracker you can get an idea of what your weight loss will be like by comparing to others with the same parameters as yourself. And it's good to see the graph go downwards. Lots of hints and tips on the board and do ask.
Had a holiday in Melbourne and fell in love with the city- found it very similar to Glasgow! And my beloved proposed to me there- soppy eh?

Thanks! I will try the tracker. I weighed myself this morning but haven't taken any measurements yet.
That's lovely that you got proposed to in Melbourne :)
I'm originally from Sydney but moved here 4 years ago and I love it!

Hi Bec

I'm sure you will enjoy your new eating regime and as a newbie to the diet I thought I'd let you know how my first week on the diet has gone.

I'm Val from York UK and am very pleased to report that I've lost 2 lb in my first week! Like you I've been spreading my 500 calories across three meals although my aim is to work up to just b/fast and evening meal to take advantage of the "repair" element of the diet. I hope you find like me that surviving on 500 calories is relatively easy and when you go to bed it will be in the knowledge that you can enjoy a good breakfast when you wake up and can eat well during the rest of the day. As for the "feast" days I have always tended to eat healthily during the day so all I've been doing is reduce the portion size of my main meal. I've also been in the habit of eating a small bar of chocolate most evenings so I've continued to indulged but only half the bar. I also like to drink a bottle of wine spread over the weekend but I gave it a miss this weekend, not becuase of the diet but for some reason I didn't feel like indulging so I guess that also helped.

Well that's my first week over with and this week I'm fasting today and Thursday.

Good luck

Val
