The FastDay Forum

Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Greetings & Salutations!

Hello fellow 5:2 dieters,
My husband spotted a PBS showing of Dr. Mosley's coverage of the 5:2 diet. I then watched it and was completely intrigued by it. We bought the book and have been giving it a go (only a couple weeks in).

I am a nurse and a newer running enthusiast. I want to drop 20 pounds before my next marathon in November, but I want to keep it healthy. I was very impressed with the data that has already been collected and the remarkable decreases showing in the LDL, Triglycerides etc.

If there are any other fellow runners also doing the 5:2, I would love to hear how you plan your fast days especially if you are tackling a long run, or some tempo runs.

Thank you kindly for any input.

You'll find a whole lot of runners on here - see if you can find a discussion thread called "Are there any runners in here?"

I'm training for my first half-marathon in June. I do 4 runs a week - a distance one on Sunday, a timed 5km Parkrun every Saturday, and 2 other 30 min+ runs on Tuesday and Thursday. I dont fast at weekends, but sometimes the weekday runs come either on or immediately after a fast day - I haven't found that to impact on my performance yet.
