The first day of a new diet... Ahh, ever optimistic.
The 5:2 diet was suggested to me today and I realised that it rung a bell, turns out a family member of mine mentioned that it was really working for him (this was a few months ago). He hadn't mentioned it by name so I didn't pay much attention then, but I started some serious research today and have decided to give it a go!
I have been struggling with my weight for a few years now, as I've never been 100% happy with my body, and despite fluctuating half a stone here or there I've been gradually putting on weight since I was 16. This really began to worry me recently as I can feel the weight on me; when I see pictures I don't really recognise myself as this isn't how I think my body looks! I've tried WeightWatchers, cutting carbs in the evenings, exercise, etc. but unfortunately these seem to have only ever been short-term solutions.
I've definitely developed some bad habits, and I do have a complete lack of control when it comes to chocolate. As a student it's hard to buy healthy food all term, and cook when stressed with work, but I'm far worse when I'm home as my mum and I absolutely love to eat out and we drink regularly too. Also, I only exercise (gym, taekwondo, horse riding) at uni, so I really need a diet that works with or without exercise!
So I am back at uni today and have decided that my fast days will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, meaning I'll be starting my first fast tomorrow. I have good intentions of hitting the gym and swimming daily, as well as pursuing taekwondo and horse riding. But most importantly I will be starting the 5:2 diet and could really use some support to keep me on the right track.
Fingers crossed that my foodie nature and low boredom threshold will make this the definitive life choice for me!
