Keeping focused and motivated
17 Apr 2013, 12:47
I am definitely sold on the idea that 5:2 can work. My problem stems from an inability to keep myself focused and motivated. The lack of a stable work environment plus the associated worries brought about by the current economic situation here in Cyprus make it so difficult to keep things on track.

I really do want to make the necessary changes, yet I keep forgetting to do it.Can anybody recommend some kind of Android based phone app for keeping track of things and keeping focused? This may help remind me of the goals I have set and need to reach.
myfitnesspal.com is great for tracking food and weight loss - as well as calorie counting - and it has a phone app.
Thanks, I'll give it a try.
Your post made me curious so I searched for intermittent fasting apps and found http://tinyurl.com/c82um5w It doesn't seem to have a free/demo version. I haven't used it so can't recommend it. I've decided to go pen and paper with tracking my fasts.

This widget http://tinyurl.com/cjmgn6d looks interesting too.

I feel for you all in Cyprus.
TrackMyFast caught my eye too, might bite the bullet and get it. Tracking progress may help me focus on what I'm putting in my mouth.

The Missus works part time so I tend to eat less on Thurs/Fri - maybe good days for me to fast.
Libra - free app - will track your weight and show progress to target...
One way to think about your situation: What you decide to put in, or not put in your system may be one of the few things you have complete control over!. I think that is empowering. Good luck on 5:2 path. It works.
My biggest issue is boredom eating, though I'm not a serious junk food eater, we tend to eat fresh rather than processed, just likely too much. I'm starting to measure intake using myfitnesspal, hopefully that will give me some indication of just how much I'm taking in on a daily basis.

As work is pretty sedentary, the whole day spent behind a computer, I walk into work, this saves a fortune in petrol and gives me 20 mins of brisk walking each day. As well as carrying excess weight, I carry my computer bag too, that has to increase slightly the calorie burn up.
