Hi Everyone,

Just found this forum yesterday after deciding to give this Eating Plan a go. Here are my reasons:

1. I have a considerable amount to loose as the weight has piled on over the past 6 years. I was always slim but since hitting my 40s I seem to have put on more and more.

2. I get bored so quickly with diets as I love socialising with my family and friends and can't do this freely when on a diet. The 5:2 way of eating makes so much sense as you can still do this, so this really appealed to me.

3. Have heard a few people talk about friends or family who have started this plan and are doing really well.

4. This reason has been my biggest motivator in starting this plan: My 76 year old parents started this plan 10 wks ago and the results have been amazing!!!! My Dad has always been slim and fit but since getting into his 70s he has put on a bit of weight. Still not heavy in my opinion, but he has increased in the stomach and waist area. My Mum has been a typical yo yo dieter most of her adult life and has been very much overweight for a lot of years now. So, they read about this plan and decided to give it a go. WOW!!! They really have lost a lot of weight, they look slimmer and they feel great. My dad has lost his paunch and his trousers are getting to big. My Mum, who still has a lot to loose, is looking remarkably slimmer. I notice it around her jawline, and also around her shoulders. She is shrinking before my eyes! I was talking to them about it at the weekend. They can't believe how easy it is to do it and have already decided that they will continue to eat this way long term. They don't have scales as they hate them, so really don't know exactly the amount they have lost, but they feel the difference and everyone around them can see the difference.

So 2 nights ago, I decided, that's it, I am going to try this! So yesterday was my first Fast Day. To be perfectly honest with you, I didn't think I would manage it. But I did, and it was not as bad as I thought it would be. I decided to not eat unt
il dinner as I'm not a big breakfast eater anyway. So I just drank black tea, water and had a Miso soup at lunch. Then for dinner I had fish, veg and a salad. It tasted so good and I actually properly enjoyed my meal for the first time in ages!!!! I often like a glass of wine but I didn't even have that. I had the best sleep I have had in ages and I woke up this morning feeling great!!!! So, after searching the web and finding this forum decided to join.
Welcome to the forum and this way of eating! It's called woe on here as its not a diet as such its a lifestyle change! I am on my third fast today and its the first weigh in tomorrow will be sure to post my loss!

It's lovely to hear about your parents and the benefits they are physically showing and bet they are healthier on the inside too!
Good luck weighless diva! I am relatively new to this way of eating myself but after almost three weeks, I am considering to maintain this way of eating for the rest of my life. You will soon start noticing weight loss and other health benefits. Lovely to hear about your parents, in my experience this WoE increases your vitality. All the best and btw the fasting gets easier, with the occasional blip here and there. Have a great day,

Hello Diva!

Thank you so much for your post about your parents results to date. How wonderful!

I'm like you in that I love to socialize on the weekends and this WOE fits perfectly with that. I've lost 25 lbs since the beginning of the year on a rather stringent diet that I could not follow for life, so I was so excited to find this WOE and in particular, this forum! So many helpful and inspiring people here! I'm only on my 2nd week...lost 3 lbs my first week! This after being stalled for over a month with my weight loss.

I look forward to following your progress. I know you'll do great! :victory:
