Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Saying Hi
18 Apr 2013, 22:08
Hi I am new here and new to 5:2 . I saw a status pop up on facebook about 5:2  so I had to check it all out and after a good look around the internet and having now watched the documentary too I have started the diet. I have already lost 3 kilo's on my own but was losing a bit of memento. I am not very overweight but have developed high blood pressure for the first time in my life. My doctor told me to lose some weight and try to get it down on my own first . I started this 4 days ago , and today is my 2nd day of the fast. Wish me luck and hello to all.

Welcome Ally. I am new as well. And also have blood pressure that has been creeping up. I just read an article yesterday about beet juice reducing blood pressure. Not my favorite but trying to incorporate more beets into my diet. Google it. Better than going on medication. Here is a link:

Parsley is also supposed to reduce blood pressure. My mum has low BP and she isn't allowed to eat parsley often.
