Couldn't agree with sparkle more, stick with the forum and you'll stick with 5:2ing. If you look at my progress chart you'll see that my weight is up and down, normally the up's would have disheartened me to give up but because of the forum this is a way of life for me. Also plan! And finally, consider just eating all your calories at dinner time because once you start eating that makes you want to keep eating. Good luck.

what a fantastic name- welcome BISCUITSLAYER!!!!
I do think that wilmissus' advice about having the lot in one meal is very good- have been doing this now for quite some weeks and it is paying off- obviously everybody is different but many people here find that it works- it's worth a try and you get some lovely meals for 500 cals- and the rest of the day your mind will just switch off food- IT'S MAGIC!!!
all the best- keep in touch- ursula

Thanks again everyone, just planning next weeks meals, start tomorrow with fast day 1. Read Kate Harrisons book yesterday, could'nt put it down and it just confirmed to me, this is the right plan for me to be following, even managed to convince my other half to have a go, he was a bit sceptical at first, like me, but once I explained it he soon came around to my way of thinking.
Thanks for all the advice, I'm going to make some homemade soup for my lunch and split the 500 over 2 meals as I work in a kitchen so will need something to help me not to give in to temptation!
P.S Well done on your losses, I hope to be joining you soon! :victory:

I am also a newby. Have only done 2 fasts so far, tomorrow will be number 3. I read on this site about skipping breakfast, this worked for me, and had a diet shake for lunch. I don't want to do this as it's not natural. I'm hoping be able to go out and still be fasting. am thinking of making a veggie soup tomorrow and a chicken dish for dinner. Any suggestions please as I've been dieting most of my life and I'm in need of 2 new knees. The first thing the doctor said was "you'll have to try to lose some weight" easier said than done. I love the way people say this, as if I haven't been doing that half of my life. Oh, I'm complaining already and it's not fasind day yet. Thanks ;-)

I'm also a newbie, joined today. First things I searched for were vegetarian recipes ( found lots, thank you!) and combining my running with fasting and again there were lots of postings that were helpful. I'm slightly anxious about the fasting days because I am a grazer. I feel shaky if I don't have something to eat every 2-3 hours! Think I will have to try out the methods of splitting the calories throughout the day and trying one meal in the evening and see how I get on. Really interested in the long term health benefits but worried I'll keel over by lunchtime!

I'm a grazer as well anne51, but I've found in the past if could'nt be bothered to make any breakfast when I got up I could easily go through til 2 o'clock with just drinks, so I think it'll be easier than you think, make sure you keep yourself busy - thats the key. Since deciding to do this and reading the books on Saturday I've felt like the old me, hyper and actually happy and I've only really started properly today - long may it continue!
Hi grannys42! In my case I find being organised (which dos'ent come natural to me!) helps, I've been looking through all my recipe books and writing the calories down, on fast days I'm going to try and not give in until water no longer satisfies the cravings because night time after my tea is the worst for me, so if I can save my soup for supper that will be better. Good luck! x
