seems too good to be true !

Hi everyone, started 5:2 last week (although I did 4:3 as I couldn't believe I could still eat what I want on feed days and lose weight!) lost 2 lbs and am very encouraged. I have tried most diets over the years more recent being Dukan then weight watchers always start of enthusiastic then fail after a couple of weeks. I'm hoping this will be the one for me because I can still eat all the foods I enjoy just not on a fast day. One of the main reasons for adopting this woe is because I have a very high diabetes risk (My Dad and 2 brothers have diabetes and I had gestational diabetes in both my pregnancies)
Its really encouraging to hear all the great results people are having. :)

Fantastic start, Roo (hmmm, you're not our cat are you - same name, OTOH he hasn't just lost 2 lbs, he probably should do...)

As you may know, rates of weight loss can vary week by week and in general tend to start high and reduce. If you have a look at the progress tracker http://www.52fastdiet.co.uk/tracker.php?p=stats for the whole forum you will see that c.1 lb/wk seems to be (very broadly) typical.

Well done on your loss, I too find it hard to believe that I can eat what I want but had a lush chinese on Sunday night and felt a bit guilty (not that guilty though ha ha) but still lost so yay! :)

No I don't think I'm a cat dominic !!

Trying to decide whether to do 5:2 or 4:3 this week.
Normally I would be very happy with 1 lb a week, but I have a big holiday coming up in 6 weeks in honor of a big birthday I will be having in June and apparently I have promised my family I will wear a bikini !! (can't actuary remember saying this and have never worn one in my life !!)
So I'm a bit torn as my main reason for wanting to stick to this is health which will be easier with 5:2
Just wish I had found this woe sooner.

yeah I hope it won't be woeful too, just trying not to use that horrible word 'diet' as soon as i say it my brain starts saying you can't have that and my body starts saying but I need it and the battle commences !!

yes, just call it a lifestyle! It avoids the dread word and it makes it sound permanent (which it should be, in some form, I suspect)
