Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

newbie questions!
22 Apr 2013, 08:54
Hi, another newbie here with a few questions.
I have done 4 fasts so far, and the positive side effect of appetite resetting really does happen, its amazing I don't crave food all day now and really savour it when I do eat! As I have a physically demanding job I only have the energy to fast on my days off, so at the moment only doing one fast day a week and eating sensibly rest of the week, hoping to go up to 2 when work eases off!
Will I still get the benefits from only one fast a week, obviously weight loss will be slower. Id like to lose one and a half stones.
Is it normal to feel very tired the day after fasting, will this improve?
Does anyone else breakout in spots a few days later?
Is it normal to get tender lymph nodes(armpit/breast area) after?
Does anyone have experiance with fasting and having mild/moderate Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? (pretty much recovered now) but concerned as feeling more tired again since starting diet.
I guess the body has to adapt to a new way of eating and I know mine is particularly sensitive to change because of the Cfs,but any info out there is gratefuly recieved.
Many thanks and good luck to all fellow fasters!
love and light!

Hi Crackers
I have ME/FMS and I nearly gave up due to feeling tired. Glad I didn't as I feel tons better now even though weight loss is a bit spasmodic. My weightloss was slow anyway but I did change to 5:2 thinking that anything that might trigger repairing was worth a shot. Can't help with the sore nodes as I have sore bits aplenty due to the FMS! I assume you're sure you don't have a low-grade infection causing that? Might be worth a check with your doc if that persists.

I would be concerned about your lymph system. I'm no doctor, but I'm having trouble imagining what about this diet could cause that. Perhaps you could try asking in the "nerdy" area of the forum, where our resident brainiacs hang out? They keep abreast of lots of interesting medical information down there.

My husband finds he actually has more energy on fast days and visits the gym for a run on the treadmill. I'm mixed about it, and sometimes get a huge spurt of housework done - sometimes not. I have never noticed fatigue the next day though, but I don't have CFS.

All in all, I think all of your questions might be better answered in one of the other forums, like "nerdy stuff" or "general health and fitness" - if you don't get any good responses here, you might want to repost.

Good luck and welcome!
