The FastDay Forum

Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

I'm just finishing fast 3 (Skinny Monday became Skinny Tuesday this week due to a birthday celebration yesterday)

It feels a bit tougher this week, but I'm hugely encouraged by a 3lb loss at my first week's weigh-in. We had guests at home and had some really huge dinners in between so I was amazed.

I have decided to invest in a new set of electronic scales, and wondered if anyone could recommend a calorie counting book?

I have become the portion control police!!!
I use MyFitnessPal (Free online calorie counter) to count and track calories. I like it because it has a big database of Supermarket foods as well as the basics. Some things have been added by users and are wildly wrong, but they are easy enough to check
the hugely better Calorie Counter by Carolyn Humphries is the one that I use.
I'm a real dinosaur and like to use pen and paper to note down weights of ingredients as I use them. I then use the calorie counter pages at the back of The 5:2 Cookbook by Angela Dowden to calculate how the meal is progressing calorie wise. I have tried using The Food Focus and MyFitnessPal but find them too long winded for me.......my iPad was getting very messy too!!!
