Hi,

I'm new to this forum and really excited about getting to know everyone. I've been doing this for a little while but am not always as consistent as I could be, especially over xmas!

I do consecutive days as that's what fits best into my week and I think it gives me the best chance of keeping it up although I'm not sure if this gives me the best health benefits or whether it makes little difference.

Looking forward to my dinner now! :D

Welcome!

I am a fairly new to the diet and this forum.

I did really well on my first week and lost 4lbs but blew it last week as I had trouble fitting in 2 fast days and I did lots of socialising. Resulting in 3lbs back on! :-(

I got back on track yesterday and am having my second fast day of this week tomorrow.

Thinking about the health benefits helps me to think of it as not being just another fad diet currently doing the rounds and when I feel hungry on a fast day that is what keeps me going.

Good Luck!

Hi pixieofdoom! Love the name!

Welcome from me too. :)

I think this forum is a great source of info and support.

I'm on my third week, lost 4.5 pounds (4 pounds in first week) and hoping to see a small loss on Friday which is my weigh-in day. I've found it's getting easier to fast and I don't see it as such a big thing anymore.

I'm having more trouble deciding what/when/how much to eat when I'm not fasting and often under or over-eat. Have some adjusting to do.

Anne - you're back! :) I wondered what happened to you in your week of too much socialising! I guess it was too hard to fast at the same time? Oh well, hope you're not too disheartened. Might be a relief to get fasting again?! :D

Hi - we're joining this site at the same time. It's great to see so many people here and so much activity. I've been on this 5:2 diet now since early November - having seen the Horizon programme and thinking that's worth giving a go. The weight benefits are great, but the extra health benefits are amazing. Think this is the way forward and is hopefully my way of life from now on. Hubby has joined me too, which makes it so much easier!! So far I've lost about a stone - so it's a slow steady trickle, which is fine by me. Lots of inspiration here from people and ideas - looking forward to using the site.

That sounds great, Suchard007. I need to lose about 20 pounds so a slow steady weight loss would be good. My husband is doing it too but I don't really want him to lose too much weight and get too thin (I don't have that problem! ;) )

What other benefits have you found from following a 5:2 diet? Do you feel different? Appetite changed?

I'm interested in the extra health benefits too, not just weight loss!
