I am new here. I have lost about 75lbs doing a sort of calorie shifting that I came up with on my own. (But have since discovered is not unique! Not that I thought I was so special!). The first 40-50lbs I lost I was eating 1800 calories 3 days a week, 2200 calories 3 days a week, and then one day around 3000 but I often did not keep track on those day and was just "off" for the day.
I think in a lot of ways it was similar in theory to the 5:2 diet in terms of looking at calories over the week and eating less on some days so you can eat more on others.
I am to a point where I am ok if I don't lose any more, but would be happy if I did. What I really want now is to not think so much about what I am eating every single day and find a routine where I can maintain easily or possibly lose a little more with a little less obsession with counting and weighing etc.
I am optimistic about the 5:2 plan because as I said I do not feel like it is a huge departure from what I know has worked for me for a long time. It's been over 3 year since I stared my weight loss journey, and over a year of really good maintenance for me, but I do not want to count every calorie every day anymore.
I am not much for exercising but I do take my 3 dogs for a brisk 20 minute hike every day.
Nice to meet you!
Sarah
