Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

New to this!!

Hi, I am 54 years old and saw the Fast Diet book in the supermarket yesterday - but didn't buy it!! I have spent the best part of today researching it and have decided to give it a go, so struck whilst I felt positive and have started my first Fast day today!! I had already had an oat so simple porridge this morning and a Banana but that's all so far, (oh and a multi-vitmin and Omega 3 tablet - how many calories in them???). I am having homemade carrot soup tonight. Have sipped copious amounts of water, herbal tea and black coffee so only getting a few hunger pangs - but having done the Cambridge diet before, I quite enjoy the feeling of hunger - it tells me I am in control of my body (not the other way around!) .

I weigh 188 lbs and, ideally would love to lose about 28 lbs. I have previously done Weight Watchers, Slimming World, the Cambridge Diet, the F-Plan Diet, Slimming Pills, the Cabbage Diet and a load of others without any success. Therefore, I am going to think of this as a healthy way of life, rather than a diet as no-one on my Mum's side of the family live beyond 55 and I already have high blood pressure and achy bones, so this kind of feels like a last chance saloon.

PS. Love this website!!

Thanks Anne.

I wasn't hungry much at all yesterday (thank goodness!). I am going to do mainly 5:2 but may on occasions, change it to 4:3. Depending on how bad my weekend is likely to be - or indeed was!!

I started fasting on Tuesday night (after my main meal at 6.00 p.m.) and had 600 calories yesterday but am continuing today until 6 p.m. and aiming to only have 400 cals to 6.00 p.m. today to average it out to 500 cals for the two days - if that makes sense. That's because I would only be able to do one day this week as I've family arriving tonight. But next week I will do Monday and Thursday.

Good luck to you too and look forward to tracking you on your progress.

Barbara
