Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hi there!

Hi

Just thought I would introduce myself to the Forum.

I'm a 59yrs old female who would love to be slimmer for my 60th in June.I'm currently 11st 7lbs but should be around 9st. I've tried most of the popular diets in the past but find that I lose weight to start with but then find it difficult to focus on food everyday.

I've read the 5:2 book and think that this is something that I can cope with. In fact it reminded me of how I use to eat when I was slim!

I'm looking forward to being hungry as to be quite honest I think I just eat for eating sake these days.

I'm hoping that it will be the answer to my weight problem and help me develop a better relationship with food.

Thanks for reading this post

Welcome Sharon, lots of helpful advice here and I think you will find you are in good company. Lots of people here having very good results with 5:2 as well. It bodes very well that you are looking forward to being hungry - I think learning to live with hunger pangs is perhaps the biggest lesson in 5:2. It works because we all know its only for a day at a time. And most people find the fasts do get easier, so don't be discouraged if it seems a little hard at first.

Have a look around, read the 'Short answers' FAQ, and put your oar in (as I do) if you have any questions or observations!

Thanks for the welcome Dominic

I'm going to have a good look around the site like you say.

When I was younger I was used to living with hunger pains and it didn't bother me at all but somehow over the years I've developed a fear of it - if you understand what I mean.

I'm hoping it's something that I can get used to again - a bit like riding a bike !!! LOL

Well Sharron, I think you have hit the nail on the head there I think. This is how naturally slim people eat. I have often wondered how apparent naturally slim people manage to sometimes eat a lot more than I do but I failed to focus on the fact that the rest of the time they eat much less.

Good Luck with your goal to become a slim sexagenarian!
