If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Another newbie

Hello everyone I hope I can join you here for support. Been doing 5:2 for about 4 weeks now and already I have lost 5lb. I can't believe how easy it is and hopefully sustainable. I'm really attracted by the health benefits having watched the programme last year. It seems to make sense. I could do with a couple of stone off, though I'm tall and active so not too worried and I'm not usually a fan of strange diets. My choice is normally healthy eating and reduced portions to slim down a bit but of course you get fed up with that after a while and the cake tin calls. When you feel 60 approaching rapidly it focusses the mind.

Hi Gill & welcome! 5:2 certainly seems to be sustainable, I've been doing it 6 months now and don't feel like stopping :) I've tried various diets, as well as just plain old reduced portions, cutting out the 'bad' things and exercising more but I found I couldn't keep at it and that now I'm in my 30's it doesn't work as well as in my 20's. 5:2 has been a revelation!
