Hi all, this is my first post on this forum, so hi!! Am not new to the 5:2 way of eating as started the diet way back in October. Did really well weight loss wise (10lbs lost) until Christmas when everything fell by the wayside a bit! Got back on track in January and looking forward to being part of this forum! :D
Hi Steph, welcome, I'm new as well and pretty much in the same place. I've been aware of 5:2 for years because I read about Brad Pilon's Eat Stop Eat programme. Tried to do it on and off (mostly off), but found it so very hard to eat NOTHING AT ALL, even though it's only 24 hours at a time.
I'm finding 500 cals. on fast days much easier to manage. High hopes now!
So how's January been for you, so far?
Hi Susanne, thank you for your reply, it's great to hear from you!
Yes, agree - high hopes now! January has been a bit hit and miss so far I must admit, it does seem to take so long to get over the Christmas feasting mindset! Have done two weeks of 5:2 in early Jan, but fell off the wagon again last week. Am on my second fast day of this week today so hoping I'm back on track now! It's my weigh in day tomorrow, so am hoping for a positive result! How about you, how has January been for you? It is easier being able to eat 500 cals isn't it - can't imagine eating nothing at all, that would be awful! Hope you have had some positive results!
Over the last year, I lost something like 30lbs. - and not even consciously trying that hard... it's falling in love that did that ;-)

I'm still in love, but the effect seems to have worn off as I've stayed the same weight now for several months. Now I'm trying to get the momentum going again before the wedding... and becoming more intentional about getting rid of the flab.

And as you say, 500cals is manageable and I'm hoping for results. This is the first fast day on this programme, so I can't really say anything just yet - except that the day is nearly over and I feel fine, it hasn't been hard. :)

Wishing you the best of luck!!
Great that you lost 30lbs, that's brilliant, so's falling in love, ahh! Hope your day wasn't too bad yesterday, glad you didn't find it that hard! Good luck with the next phase - your wedding is a fantastic incentive isn't it! Have a great weekend and enjoy next week's fasting!
