Here I am!

Hello there!

I imagine it's not going to be easy, or quick, to lose 1/3 of my weight. I don't expect miracles.
I don't even know how I've got to the stage where I weigh that much... :?
It's taken a few years to get where I am, and it'll will take a year or so to get where I want to be, and I may need support and encouragement at times
I've made a start. :)

Well congratulations for making a start! You can't change if you don't start. I'm on the same boat, with quite a few pounds to lose myself - complicated by the fact I take medication to slow down my thyroid, which makes the weight dribble off ever so slowly.

But like you said, it's taken a few years to get to this point, and it will take a while to lose the weight safely. And it would be nice to lose the weight slowly enough that I won't need surgery to remove excess skin - how's that for seeing the bright side of a slow moving scale?

I have been doing this nearly a month, and I must say that even though I'm only down 3.5 pounds, I feel considerably more in control. Hunger is no longer a dementor. Now that I actually know what real hunger feels like, it's not scary :-)

Welcome and join in :-)

Hi Tracieknits,

I had my enlarged thyroid removed a few years ago and I take a thyroxine replacement every morning. That does not help when trying to lose weight!
Like many people, I started 5:2 last August. The whole approach turned all the usual thinking about dieting on its head.
It worked to a point, then I the weight started to stagnate and I got disillusioned and gave up trying around Christmas time.
I know where I went wrong and I must stick to eating normally and not less than I should when I'm not not fasting. i realise and accept that it does not make the weight drop faster! I am now quite fastidious about logging my food intake in FitnessPal and it helps.
This is not going to be a walk in the park and I am prepared for it...

They gave me a choice between taking a pill every day or irradiating my thyroid, which is permanent, followed by taking a pill every day. So I chose simply taking a pill every day ;-)

I think that's a good idea, to make sure you eat normally. I think you've got a great attitude :-)

And I just noticed your location is France. Veinard! Je voudrais habite en France mais je suis americaine et 90 jours c'est tout pour mon passeport! Aussi, je suis desole pour l'abbattage cette langue belle -- I'm still learning! LOL And yeah, I did mean to say "Lucky" there. Hopefully that's what I said. I know changing a letter makes it a thing one doesn't say to a friend!
