Hi
I hope to start tomorrow, I have ordered the book and read quite abit this evening. I am excited but also a bit worried, hoping I will manage the fast days.
I have been with weight watchers for along time ,lost 2 and half stone and have put 13 lbs of that back on, seem to try very hard but it just doesn't shift and then resort to comfort eating.Really hoping this approach will help me.
Impressed with this site.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I felt the same when I started, I read a lot and was as prepared as I could be. The only thing I had was a headache towards the end of the day, though that quickly eased when I ate... I saved my 500 for one meal. Sine then I've been fine, I increased water intake which and now split my 500 having some at lunch instead of all at the end of the day.

Have a good fast day x

Hi Margaret
Welcome!
I went to WW for over a year, lost 28 pounds and put 8/9 back on. I couldn't get back into it and decided I needed a change to mix things up a bit.
I've been doing 5:2 for three weeks and have lost 3 pounds.
I find it good because you are really only 'tracking' for two days a week (and you can make that really easy by not eating until tea time/evening).
With WW I felt I was permanently on a diet. I would be 'good' all week and then lose it at the weekend - end up staying the same.
I prefer looking at calories rather than points also.
I think 5:2 is worth a go as it teaches a lot about real hunger, what you actually need to eat and when to stop. I've found it enlightening. Early days and still learning.
Good luck!

Thanks so much for this, I agree totally with your WW comments, I think this approach will be more constructive for me. I have never been on a forum before, I think it will be something that will be helpful to me and hopefully, once I get into it, I will also be able to contribute.
Thanks for the welcome

Yes Margaret, I've never been on a forum before but seem to have become hooked on this one!

I don't want to knock WW too much - it got me going when I felt a bit desperate and everything else had failed - but it started to annoy me in the end. I think it can be good for getting you on the right track but hard to keep up indefinitely? I think at some point you have to let it go and do something sustainable in the long term.

This is also free! And you might buy less food and save some money!

You have to laugh! :D

Good luck Bexie! Bet you find it easier than you thought.

Tip - if your tummy rumbles or feel v hungry, have a hot drink. I have a range of fruit and herb teas which can also be drunk lukewarm or cold. Really helps
