Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Good evening ......
04 Feb 2013, 20:27
:) Good evening, I signed up to the forum today and am very impressed by the support and enthusiasm 'out there'. I am in my mid 50's and, like many of you no doubt, have been on and off 'diets' for most of my adult life. I am at a time in my life when weight has become more difficult to shift and I want to get to grips with this before other health issues eg type 2 diabetes become an issue. Like other 5:2 ers I prefer to use the term WOE (way of eating) to 'diet'. I started today and my first fast day is tomorrow. I look forward to swapping progress and tips with you all, Rachel

Good luck Rachel.
I am in the last year of my 50's and a cancer survivor.
I'm doing it mainly for the health benefits, but would like to get rid of the belly fat that has crept on since the menopause.
I think you might be surprised by how easy the fast days are. Personally I find the eating days more of a challenge, but am giving myself and my body time to work it out.
I don't really feel like eating on a non fast day, but once I start I'm ok.
I agree that the support on here is great.
