Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!
If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!
Some people find that having less carbs the night before fasting makes the fasting day easier. Myself, I just eat as normal on a feed day, but no snacks after dinner if I'm fasting the next day.
Just be sure to plan what you're going to eat on your fast day so you know exactly what calories you are having and when. Maybe even hold a few in reserve for a 'snack' of some kind (low cal soup/hot choc/pot of sugar free jelly!!) in case you struggle on your first days. It gets easier with each fast and you'll soon know how to deal with it.
Many of us find it easier to go without food for as long as possible before consuming our 500/600 cals as one meal - though this may be daunting for new 5:2ers a lot of us realised within a month or so that eating anything during the day kick starts the appetite and makes the day much harder. But you need to find what works for you
Try to keep busy and make sure you drink plenty of water (2 litres or more is a good idea!)
Thanks!
