For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Well I've tried most diets going and can't stick to the rigid rules of what I can and can't eat. I love food whether it be a nice crisp salad or a burger and chips :lol:

So by chance I came across the 5:2 fast diet and hurried to find the Horizon programme. I watched it, didn't quite believe it, searched online and keep seeing positive results.

Book has now been downloaded ready to read but my only question, for now, is how will it affect my under active thyroid?

I just can't wait to get started :D

I have an overactive thyroid myself, and I'm on methimizole to calm it down.

I've been fasting 2 days a week since January 8, and I have to say my weight loss has been slow - 3.5 pounds total. But this is to be expected with my thyroid medication, so I'm not terribly concerned.

My hope is that with fasting fixing all of these other issues, maybe it will have a beneficial effect on my thyroid as well? I haven't found *any* information at all about the effects of this on the thyroid though. This is only my hope. I will be going for another blood test in four weeks, and we'll see what happens.

Perhaps we should be asking this question of the experts in the Nerd forum :-)
