Newbie Hello

Hi All,

Just recently been looking into the 5:2 "diet" after a couple of people I know have lost over a stone.

My weight has crept up over the last year thanks to a more sedentary lifestyle after leaving traipsing London all day behind me to work from home. That and giving up smoking put about 2 stone on

I'm going to start my first fast day tomorrow and do a proper measure and weigh in tonight but at 5'5" I'm about 13 stone so would like to lost 3 stone if possible. I'd be really happy with 2 stone loss though and have just bought an exercise bike for the spare bedroom so will crack on with that tonight!

I'd be keen to hear from anyone who's lost around the 2 stone mark so I can get some motivation for this!

Thanks,
Karen

Hi Karen! Welcome to the forums and the 5:2 way of life :)

Sounds like you're in a similar boat to me - or at least the boat I was in. I'm 5'4" and since getting married a couple of years ago I managed to pile on a couple of stone, ending up at 13.5! Eek!

I'm in my 30's now and tried my usual weigh loss tactics of more exercise, less food (and more healthy food in general) but the weight just wouldn't shift. I was gutted and getting really down with the situation.

I saw the 5:2 Horizon in August and decided to try it right away! Since then I have lost 2st 5lbs, I even lost a tiny bit of weight over Christmas despite all the indulgence! The loss was certainly quicker in the first couple of months but I love that I can still eat plenty on feed days and yet see the scales keep going down!

I've never found a 'diet' so easy, nor been able to stick with it so long without feeling in any way deprived. Quite the latter, I feel better for it and I don't feel guilty when I eat 'naughty' foods (which I still do quite a lot - along with healthy meals of course).

Hope this gives you a bit of motivation. I'm sure you can shift those 2 stone within 4 months :)

Hi skinnybinny (love the name!) Welcome - this site is inspirational - I only found it myself a few days ago, but it's a great forum. I've lost 3 stone - with another 2 still to shed - but am looking at this as a life changing way of eating. Everyone here is very friendly and helpful and if you've got any questions then someone is bound to have either an answer or a sensible suggestion for you. So welcome and good luck with the bike! :)

Hi Moogie and Suchard007 and thanks for the replies.

The nickname was thanks to my dad as a child, it's stuck ever since!

It's really promising to hear that you've both had such successes and well done! Hopefully in a few months time I can share a similar story :D
